Matthew Smurda became an Associate at Nachshin & Langlois in December 2010 following several years of work as a Law Clerk with the renowned Los Angeles family law firm. Considered a valuable asset by the firm's partners, his particular knowledge in the areas of family law and finance is a culmination of his previous legal, educational, and other professional experiences.
Smurda initially joined Nachshin & Langlois as a Law Clerk during the summer following his first year of law school. He continued to work for the firm until completion of law school. As a result, he has handled a number of family law cases in matters such as divorce, legal separation, palimony, paternity, child custody, prenuptial agreements, spousal support and child support.
Prior to joining Nachshin & Langlois, Smurda gained a significant amount of legal experience working as an Intellectual Property Litigation Clerk at a large-scale, international law firm with offices in Silicon Valley and 22 other locations worldwide. He received additional experience working as an assistant at the Santa Clara Law School Office of Fiscal Operations conducting internal finance and accounting, and as an Accounting Intern in the tax department of an entertainment industry-leading creative and technology company.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree in Finance and Political Science from Santa Clara University, where he was a W.R. Hayden Merit Scholar and a Bannan Merit Scholar, Smurda went on to attend Loyola Law School. During his tenure at Loyola Law School, in addition to working at Nachshin & Langlois, Smurda volunteered for the Los Angeles Family Law Help Center, a public benefit organization that provides cost-effective assistance to low-income self-represented family law litigants.
Smurda is currently a member of the State Bar of California and also a member of the Beverly Hills Bar Association.
